Your information
Privacy Policy
Effective September 21, 2026 · Last updated September 21, 2026
This policy explains how Clutter, operated by BangClutter Inc., a C corporation ("we," "us," or "our"), handles personal information through getclutter.app, app.getclutter.app, and our connected services.
Clutter uses your connected communications to provide conversations, collaboration, search, and AI assistance. Your content is shared with the recipients you choose and service providers needed to operate these features. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, profile image, account identifiers, preferences, and authentication information supplied through sign-in. We receive authorization tokens for connected services, not your Google or Slack password.
- Connected communications: when authorized, Gmail messages and threads, sender and recipient details, subject lines, message bodies, attachments, labels, drafts, and mailbox metadata; and Slack messages, channels, workspace information, member profiles, and files made available by the permissions you grant.
- Clutter content: workspaces, channels, memberships, invitations, messages, attachments, drafts, Assist requests and responses, and generated summaries, memory, and organizational information.
- Website and support submissions: your email address when you join the waitlist, and information you provide when contacting us.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser and device information, request and account identifiers, timestamps, errors, and operational or security logs. Diagnostic records may contain information about the action or content being processed.
2. How we use information
We use information to authenticate you; synchronize and display communications; send, organize, or modify messages as you direct; support shared workspaces; provide search, summaries, memory, recommendations, and Assist; respond to support requests; maintain reliability and security; and meet legal obligations. Waitlist submissions are used to send access and product updates, which you can opt out of by contacting us.
Connecting a provider lets Clutter perform the operations covered by the permissions you approve. Some synchronization, indexing, summaries, and memory processing run in the background while the connection is active.
3. Google data and Limited Use
Clutter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. This also applies to information derived from Google data.
Google data is used for the user-facing communication, organization, and assistance features described here. It is not sold, used for advertising or credit decisions, or used to train general-purpose AI models. Transfers are limited to providing these features with your consent, security needs, legal requirements, or a business transfer with your prior consent. Human access is restricted to your specific permission, necessary security or legal work, or legally permitted use of aggregated information for internal operations.
4. AI processing
Clutter uses Google Cloud's Vertex AI to process relevant message content, participants, workspace context, your instructions, and related information for summaries, memory, organization, and Assist. This can happen automatically as part of enabled features, not only when you submit an Assist question. We store generated results to make these features work.
We do not use connected communications to train general-purpose AI models or authorize our AI provider to do so. AI processing is subject to the provider's service terms, including applicable security and abuse-monitoring retention; we do not promise zero retention. AI results can be incorrect, so review them before relying on them.
5. When information is shared
- Recipients and collaborators: people you message, invite, or share workspace or channel content with, according to the applicable visibility and permissions. Shared content can remain available to other participants after you leave or delete your account.
- Connected services: Google, Slack, and other services you authorize receive the data needed to carry out your actions. Their own terms and policies apply to their services.
- Service providers: providers of hosting, storage, AI processing, and website forms. These currently include Google Cloud, MongoDB Atlas, Vercel, and Formspree. They process information needed for their respective services.
- Legal and security needs: when necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, prevent abuse, or protect rights and safety.
- Business changes: if the service is transferred, information may transfer subject to this policy and applicable consent requirements, including the Google-data restrictions above.
We do not sell personal information or share connected communications for advertising.
6. Storage, security, and retention
Messages in your connected Gmail or Slack account remain hosted by that provider. Clutter also stores application metadata, cached message content, and generated summaries and memory to support synchronization, display, collaboration, and AI features. This includes message content, not only metadata.
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We use technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls and secure network connections. No system can guarantee absolute security.
We retain account information and content while needed to provide the service. Retention also depends on your deletion choices, shared-workspace obligations, security needs, and applicable law. Deleted information may remain temporarily in backups or operational records until it is removed through their retention cycles. Information required for legal obligations or disputes may be retained longer. We do not promise that every copy is erased immediately.
7. Your choices and requests
You can revoke Google's access permission in your Google Account connections and remove Slack access through Slack's app settings. Revocation stops future authorized access; it does not itself delete information already stored in Clutter.
Use Delete my Clutter account in the app to request account deletion, or contact us at salman.pervez@getclutter.app. Account deletion removes your Clutter account and private Clutter data and disconnects providers; it does not delete your external Google or Slack account or erase copies held by recipients and other authorized workspace members.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or to object to or restrict processing. Send requests to the address below. We may verify your identity and will respond as required by applicable law. You may also have the right to contact your local data protection authority.
8. Browser storage and website services
The app uses browser storage to support sign-in, preferences, and application state. The website uses hosting and content-delivery services, and its waitlist form sends the information you submit to Formspree. Those services receive technical request information needed to deliver their functions. Clearing or blocking browser storage may affect sign-in and saved preferences.
9. Children, changes, and contact
Clutter is intended for adults using a professional collaboration service, not children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We will update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required. New uses of Google data that require consent will not begin until that consent has been obtained.
